We are committed to attracting a talented and diverse workforce, and to fostering an open, collaborative culture of inclusivity because we believe multiple perspectives lead to more informed investment and business decisions. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas, and specialized subject-matter expertise.

The Opportunity

Wellington utilizes derivatives across all asset classes and has seen a significant growth over the last decade in both order volumes and types of instruments used, which has resulted in a considerable strain on existing infrastructure and resources. Accordingly, the firm is committed to overhauling the derivatives end-to-end operating model and technical infrastructure in order to address existing risks, gaps and deficiencies throughout the derivatives lifecycle to meet current and future investment, client, and regulatory demands.    Wellington is building a new Derivatives Platform team with the mission of developing long-term solutions for optimizing derivatives usage and workflows. In addition, existing derivatives specialist teams will support the mandate of effecting positive change by re-thinking goals and processes to align with the strategy set forth by the Derivatives Platform team.  Successful deployment of this critical strategic initiative will have positive impact on Wellington's global investment platform for years to come.

Derivatives Leadership Positions

Director, Derivatives Platform

The Director of Derivatives Platform (Director) will guide the ongoing evolution of Wellington's derivatives platform.  The Director will work closely with Investment and Product Management teams and derivative domain experts from each function across the firm (Legal & Compliance, Global Trading, Client Services, Portfolio Services, Information Technology, Product Management) to assess, prioritize and implement strategic and tactical enhancements.   Additionally, the Director will be responsible for interfacing with senior leadership within the firm to champion the needs of this evolution.   The Diretor should bring derivatives market insight and thought leadership to the firm as well as the ability to drive organizational change with a dual focus on strategy and execution. This role will be based in Boston, MA and will report to the Director of Portfolio Services, who reports directly to the CEO.

  • Define and maintain strategic vision for Wellington's derivatives platform (roles & responsibilities across functions, processes, and technology) and continuously communicate this vision to senior leadership, investment teams, and functional leads to align expectations and sustain the support necessary to achieve this vision
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal Investment, Trading, and Product Management teams to assess new products, investment styles, and investors to discuss implications to the derivatives platform
  • Engage with Legal Counsel to understand changes and implications to regulatory and market structure changes in each jurisdiction across the globe

Manager, Derivatives Platform Implementation

The Manager of Derivatives Platform Implementation Management will play a critical role in the ongoing evolution of Wellington's derivatives platform.  This role will be the point of contact for derivatives-related issues/requests from clients, investors, trading, etc. that have cross-functional impact and be responsible for the assessment, prioritization, and, ultimately, implementation of those prioritized requests.   This role will also be responsible for the implementation of strategic process and technology initiatives in support of the multi-year overhaul of Wellington's derivatives platform.  This will require day-to-day coordination with many functions across the firm including Investment Teams, Global Trading, Client Services, Portfolio Services, Legal & Compliance, and Information Technology.  The Manager of Derivatives Platform Implementation Management will be supported by a team of three implementation analysts.   This role will be based in Boston, MA and will report to and work closely with the Director of Derivatives Platform within Portfolio Services.

Manager, Client Counterparty Agreement Management

The Manager of Client Counterparty Agreement Management will be responsible for leading a team of four analysts working with Trading, Legal, Client Service, other internal Wellington teams and external brokers to successfully on-board new clients to counterparty derivatives agreements.  Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing a cohesive account on-boarding, on-going maintenance, and off-boarding strategy and capturing and maintaining key agreement terms in newly created data store for consumption by trading and post-trade applications. This role will be based in Boston, MA and will report to and work closely with the Director of Derivatives Platform within Portfolio Services.

Manager, Derivatives Operations

The Manager of the Derivatives Operations Group will be responsible for the oversight of the collateral, Future's margining, OTC clearing, bilateral settlements and trade notification functions. The Derivatives Operations Manager will provide strategic leadership and strong oversight of the day-to-day functioning of the operations including both bilateral OTC products and cleared products.  The Manager will work in close partnership with the Derivatives Platform team to ensure that operational processes are aligned with the strategy at all stages of the derivatives lifecycle. Within the Portfolio Administration management team, the Manager will be a strong and contributing member, while also working closely with the Investment Technology and Trading teams to support the controlled operational processes involved with OTC derivatives.  The ideal candidate is an OTC derivatives veteran with a significant amount of management experience and is highly knowledgeable of OTC derivative products and the technology used to support OTC and cleared instruments across the industry.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of derivatives related experience with deep expertise in investment, trading, and/or operational processes at buy-side, sell-side, or management consulting firms
  • Proven leadership experience in building and managing various aspects of a derivatives business
