Private Equity - Fund Accountant
NYC private equity/venture capital investment manager is seeking to hire a Fund Accountant. The Fund Accountant will lead the firm’s finance function and also be involved in operations, investor relations and compliance functions. The Fund Accountant will help to create and oversee a strong internal control environment to manage financial reporting. This position will provide leadership and significant growth opportunities, specifically the opportunity to grow into the firm’s CFO role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fund and Management Company Finance/Accounting:
· Maintain partner capital accounts, allocation and waterfall schedules
· Prepare capital calls and distribution notices and manage distribution process with administrator
· Prepare budgets per entity and monitor revenues, expenses, and variances on an ongoing basis
· Maintain accounting records using Quickbooks
· Compile quarterly financial reports for firm partners
NAV/Audit/Tax:
· Prepare information for and assist with the year-end audits, NAV and tax processes for all fund and management entities
· Work with the fund administrator, auditor and accountants during the NAV, audit and tax processes
Operations/Investor Relations/Compliance:
· Maintain company books and records, keeping company’s documents, files and folders organized
· Track contracts, invoices and initiate payments with service providers
· Work closely with investor relations to prepare informational reports for investors and partners
· Monitor compliance requirements and provide information to counsel to ensure all regulatory filings are made on a timely basis
· Assist with additional operations, compliance and investor relations projects as needed
EDUCATION/ACCREDITATION
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
· At least two years of relevant experience; prior fund experience strongly preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
· Exceptional ability to multi-task while still maintaining a fine-tuned attention to detail
· Curiosity to learn about the alternatives industry and its business dynamics
· Strong team member and flexible to work on a variety of projects in a small office environment with an entrepreneurial spirit
