Role synopsis                       
Integrated Supply & Trading (IST) is BP's face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, chemicals and finance. Its role is to enhance Group value through distinctive supply, commodity trading, risk management and IT skills underpinned by a world class finance, control and compliance infrastructure. IST has a dynamic and skilled workforce which creates value by combining analysis and commercial innovation with the material asset base of BP.
The Commercial Development Team forms an integral part of Global Oil Europe's deal making team supporting IST's strategic growth ambitions. The transactions are commercially developed by the Marketing & Origination Team(s) and the Trading Benches. The Commercial Development Team will support delivery of these wide- ranging types of transactions through the deal life cycle and provide nimble and efficient delivery within assurance and approval standards.


Key accountabilities
The Commercial Developer Role is a high-profile role that is expected to execute a high degree of commercial acumen engaging with a diverse stakeholder set partnering with Front Office trading benches, Marketing and Origination as well as key functional teams. This is unique development opportunity to work in a highly dynamic trading and origination environment supporting delivery of commercial activity within IST end to end processes and controls.
• Pro-actively supporting the Business SPA and key stakeholders in reviewing options and developing business requirements in support of the specific business area they are assigned to
• Leading the design and delivery of high quality management information to support decision making in the regional Deal Governance Board. This can include ATN's, FM's, functional assurance and detailed review and understanding of economic models
• Project manage the delivery of the transaction through the ‘internal' deal life cycle. This includes driving and enabling solutions beginning with deal development through the execution, functional assurance and ‘management of change' activities, ensuring business readiness
• Provide support and materials for Executive Governance Boards including IST Commitments Committee and Risk Committee Meeting
• Provide CFO assurance to economic models insuring EEM (Economic Evaluation Methodology) and GIAAPS (Group Investment Assurance and Approvals Process requirements are met
• Ensuring effective identification and communications related stakeholders at every stage of the deal life cycle and understanding any issues and addressing their concerns
• Manage the functional assurance and approvals process, ensuring relevant approval processes are followed
• Ensure ATN and FM boundaries are met in contractual agreements and appropriately tracked
• Lead the development of new business processes, and operating models where necessary
• Lead post project implementation reviews as requested
• Support the creation and maintenance of relevant management information to support origination activities including a pipeline of opportunities and performance


Essential education               
Educated to degree level or equivalent - finance or business degree preferable


Essential experience and job requirements
• Previous experience in the oil and gas industry
• Strong commercial acumen, understanding of commercial risks & rewards
• Previous experience managing internal deal process of approval and implementation
• Demonstrated understanding of trading
• Using strong communication skills, provide excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels with confidence to build relationships and personal credibility quickly
• Ability to manage potential conflicts and using strong problem- solving skills influence/facilitate outcomes, knowing when to escalate
• Highly motivated self-starter with high drive to support and deliver potentially complex and challenging new activity projects within the business
• Partnership and Teamworking -actively engages and respects the varied contributions of others
• Wise decisions - looks for ways to understand the implications of seemingly unrelated information to aid decisions
• Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities and prioritize appropriately


 Desirable criteria & qualifications
• Previous experience working at a recognised consultancy firm
• Demonstrated analytical abilities with experience in financial analysis cash flow modelling, EEM (Economic Evaluation Methodology), GIAAP (Group Investment Assurance and Approvals Process)
• Experienced in Project or Change Management
• Experience in market analysis and/or pre-trade research
• Experience in M&A, origination/financing
• Planning and economic optimization of downstream assets
• Knowledge of IST internal processes, systems and controls
• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate finance theory
• Related deep functional knowledge/experience i.e. Credit, Tax, Trade Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Systems
• MBA or CFA
• Relevant language skills to a conversational level
