Investment Office

Description

Business Development

  • To produce regular investment performance and risk reports, summaries, analyses, etc. for the Office. To take responsibility for the accuracy of all reports produced and to share the workload as necessary with other members of the team to meet deadlines for production.

  • To ensure that all standing data, benchmark, reference and comparative information is accurate and up to date. In particular, to ensure that the index component data required to support stock-level performance attribution is correctly maintained.

  • To develop and implement new versions of reports, analyses, graphs etc to meet the changing business needs of the Office.

  • To identify and implement improvements in production processes, to enhance efficiency and internal control.

  • To support peak workloads and develop cross cover arrangements with the compliance and risk analysis areas.

  • To liaise with Office investment departments and other staff as required.

  • To assist with the preparation of responses to ad hoc management requests.

  • To provide an ad hoc project service to the Office as required and in line with business requirements.

  • To provide feedback to senior management and other staff including fund managers on the daily performance information and other management reports as required.

Personal Development

  • To keep up to date with technical developments and take ownership of continued professional and personal development.

  • Accurate and value added investment performance and risk reports delivered within agreed timeframes. Support to team provided when required.

  • Index component data accurately maintained, standing data, benchmark, reference and comparative information accurate and up to date.

  • All analyses, reports and graphs continue to meet the needs of the Office.

  • Positive contribution to process improvements made.

  • Support given when required, department continues to deliver within agreed timeframes.

  • Relationships built and maintained.

  • Ad hoc request dealt with accurately and promptly.

  • All assigned tasks delivered to the required standard and within agreed timeframes.

  • Technical know how maintained with attendance of relevant training, conferences or seminars. Up to date personal development plan in place.

Profile

Education

  • A degree, preferably in Finance or a numerate discipline would be expected together with the ability to undertake professional investment management development training e.g. IMC or CFA.

Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in an investment performance measurement environment together with relevant experience in investment management.

  • A thorough knowledge of the concepts and market standard methodology of investment performance and risk measurement and attribution and a good understanding of Modern Portfolio Theory.

  • The ability to use investment administration systems (KIO uses the DIMENSION system) and to act as a user engineer of PC processes and to implement PC-based automation of multi-stage production processes. In addition, an advanced knowledge of Excel to macro level and experience of Access are essential.

  • Knowledge and experience of using specialist investment performance, risk measurement and style analysis systems.
