Junior Investment Specialist - Equities

Working with M&G Prudential as a Junior Investment Specialist means becoming part of a brand with a global reputation and an exciting vision: to become the best loved and most successful savings & investments business.

If you're inspired to join us, and have the necessary qualities, then this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

The Role:

We are looking for a Junior Investment Specialist to work in the Equities business. The role will have a specific focus on the income team which manages £8.5 billion* across a range of global and regional strategies for wholesale and institutional clients (*as at 31 October 2018).

Investment Specialists are embedded in the investment teams and work with the fund managers to articulate investment messages to internal and external clients. The role is designed to facilitate the growth of the business, in addition to the retention of existing assets under management.

The Junior Investment Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality written content, as well as overseeing the production of presentation materials. Over time, it is anticipated that competence in these tasks will lead to the successful candidate taking on client-facing responsibilities, although this will be dependent on the individual's investment knowledge and presentation skills.

Genuine interest in equities is a must, but previous experience in the asset class is not a prerequisite. Candidates from the Graduate Programme are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

* To develop an in-depth working knowledge of financial markets and companies, with a focus on stocks held by the income team.
* To have a firm understanding of the income team's investment philosophy and process, as well as the drivers of performance, fund positioning and portfolio activity.
* By applying the above, to deliver high-quality written content including regular fund reports, ad-hoc marketing materials, client queries, responses to RFPs and press requests.
* To oversee the production of presentation materials for client meetings.
* To deliver on deadlines and manage expectations.
* To generate ideas and create new content.
* To be an integral member of the income team.
* To establish strong relationships with stakeholders - from investment teams and sales teams to investment marketing, marketing and press.
* To build credibility with fund managers and sales teams.

What we are looking for:

* Knowledge of, or keen interest in, financial markets. IMC preferable, CFA over time.
* Numerical and analytical skills - ability to respond to client demands.
* Written and verbal communication skills - ability to explain complex investment themes in simple language to a range of audiences.
* Messaging skills - ability to focus on key issues.
* Attention to detail - precision and rigour in the execution of tasks.
* Strong work ethic - an individual driven by results and achievements.
* Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
* Organisational skills - ability to manage a wide range of tasks and shifting priorities.
* Time management skills - ability to meet deadlines.
* Interpersonal skills - ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Proactive nature - ability to foresee future requirements and act accordingly.
* Self-starter - a dynamic individual who can work independently.
* Team player - ability to make a positive contribution to the vision of the income team and the investment specialists team.
* Language skills are highly desirable (Italian, Spanish, German).
