Citi's Municipal Securities Division is the leading franchise in the U.S. Public finance space, dominating in both origination and capital markets for the last 15 years. The Credit Analytics desk provides critical credit insight to our sales and trading organization, our investment bankers as well as our customers.

Description of the Position
The Analyst works as part of team of analysts on the trading desk and is fully integrated into the sales and trading organization. Team members have individual sector responsibilities. In this position, the analyst would be cover several high yield sectors. The ideal candidate must have 2-5 years of municipal credit experience. The individual must be a self-motivated, logical and analytical thinker, who is comfortable performing financial analysis and able to combine their credit views with opinions on trading levels in order to help identify value. Strong communicative abilities, both written and oral, are critical as is experience speaking with institutional buy-side customers on credit research and relative value. The Analyst must also possess a temperament that is well-suited towards operating efficiently in a high-pressure environment and amid significant ambiguity, demonstrating the ability to constantly adapt, maintain composure and, at all times, display professionalism in their interactions.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform sector, project and bond analysis
  • Provide ongoing coverage of assigned sectors / industries
  • Socialize views and opinions on events, trends and credit both internally and externally among key trading partners 
  • Frequently distribute written commentary and analysis to Citi sales and trading professionals
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships


Qualifications

  • Experience with municipal credit (2+ years in the financial services industry; ideally with experience in municipal credit)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and continuously reprioritize as needed   
  • Exceptional communicative abilities (written and oral)
  • Team-oriented mentality
  • Temperament that is well-suited for delivering in a high-pressure environment; ability to both analyze and articulate credit strengths / weaknesses amid significant ambiguity and in a fast-paced trading environment
  • Strong technical skills (Excel/PowerPoint/Bloomberg)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish relationships and partner effectively with sales, trading, operations, compliance, marketing, et al
  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's or CFA preferred)
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Series 7 and 52 required (or immediate-term ability to acquire)
