POSITION

We are currently seeking to recruit a Research Associate (RA) to join our Structured Finance Research Group. Based in Boston, this individual will focus on structured products across a variety of sectors. As part of the Structured Finance Research Team, the RA will work directly with Analysts to conduct quantitative and qualitative fundamental research in support of the Credit Analysts' and Team's research agenda. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for investing, ability to use mathematics/statistics/programing skills in modeling large data sets, embrace fiduciary responsibilities, possess a flexible mindset with the desire to learn/grow and contribute in a Team setting, and demonstrate effective communication skills (both written and oral).  In addition to the core Research Team, the RA will interact with Portfolio Managers, Traders and other investors across our global investment platform.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:  
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed financial models and industry databases to aid in analyzing existing and prospective investments
  • Maintain integrity of deal cash flow data, analyses, and comparative valuation tools
  • Assist in crafting and effectively communicating analyses/recommendations that add value to client portfolios
  • Assist with providing deal level updates to respond to client's requests and regulatory requirements
  • Work as a bridge between research, IT, and Investment Science Group for systems/process innovation
  • Attend internal and external investment meetings

 

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • Strong interest in and passion for investing in fixed income; Desire to work with large data sets and analyze Structured Finance investment opportunities is required
  •  A minimum of 2-5 years of buy-side or sell-side research, investment banking, or other relevant experience.
  •  Demonstrated financial acumen and modeling skills
  •  Strict attention to detail and strong work ethic
  •  Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  •  Curiosity, a capacity for differentiated thinking and perspective, and a growth mindset
  • Organizational and time management skills as well as ability to work well under pressure
  • Willingness and ability to take risk and challenge the status quo
  • An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record; progress towards or completion of the CFA is a plus
