We are seeking an equity research associate to support coverage of the global major bio-pharmaceutical sectors. The position is based in New York City. The ideal candidate will have exceptional quantitative (modeling) and written/verbal communication skills, outstanding time management skills, and a passion for conducting and communicating unique and thought-provoking research. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual that has a passion for the healthcare industry and especially the fast changing pharmaceutical industry. Experience in healthcare banking or research and CFA/MBA qualifications would be a plus.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree and/or CFA or MBA
  • 4 years of related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of investment banking, market, industry sector, and/or financial products
  • financial models involved in transactions
  •  Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Advanced skills in written and oral communications, and interpersonal relationship  management
  • Solid analytical and sales skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Financial modeling: Understanding of the three primary financial statements, how they relate to each other, and how to build models in Excel to forecast key value
  • Statistical analysis: Familiar with statistical methods used in clinical trials
  • Writing: the ability to succinctly and clearly explain complex information
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with IMS and Scott Levin data
  • Specific industry skills: Some direct experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or former pharmaceutical or healthcare sell-side/ buy-side experience a plus
  • Resourcefulness: the ability to find or develop answers to questions starting with incomplete information and limited direction
  • Attention-to-detail: a perfectionist approach to analysis and communication
  • Speed: the ability to respond to requests very quickly while maintaining a perfectionist approach
