Role Value Proposition:
The Asset Management unit seeks an Associate to provide quantitative and statistical analysis of macroeconomic data and global asset markets. The Associate will help to shape Brighthouse's viewpoints on the economy and commercial real estate, which will support asset allocation and portfolio management decisions for our $80+ billion general account portfolio. The individual will also work across all asset sectors with other senior members of Brighthouse's Asset Management unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and research econometric/statistical models for use in macro-economic and market analysis across various asset sectors
  • Develop and maintain asset allocation and optimization, portfolio management, risk management and other tools to support the investment process
  • Build relationships with economists, asset sector strategists and analysts at banks and other research entities
  • Provide analytical support to asset sector heads - particularly real estate and credit, as well as to structured finance and alternative investments - and to other senior members of Asset Management

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • Strong background in mathematics/statistics/econometric analysis
  • Strong understanding of finance and economics
  • Strong technical/quantitative skills with advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and statistical packages such as EViews, Matlab, R or other software.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and proven ability to meet stringent time constraints
  • Knowledge of current events/trends impacting business issues and markets (i.e., macro-economic, socio-political, industry, etc.)
  • Previous experience in quantitatively-oriented research preferred
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred; BS/BA required
