Description

The primary role of China A Shares Equity Portfolio Manager/Analyst is to assist the Head of Greater China Equity in managing client assets on a discretionary, segregated account basis in China/HK Equity strategies. The role requires traveling up to 30% of the time to conduct business acquisition and client servicing activities to ultra high net worth individuals and families within the Asia ex. Japan region. The main functions of the Equity PM/Analyst are:

1) China/HK Equity Portfolio Management
  • Assist Head of Greater China Equity in managing over $2 billion AUM in China/HK equity strategy and a new China A Equity strategy
  • The main investment focus is large cap companies with a minimum of USD$1 billion market capitalization
  • Assist the portfolio management team in trade preparation on segregated accounts and work closely with traders in executing China A Shares Equity trades
  • Ensure each account is managed according to the investment mandate and special guidelines
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk management parameters¬†

2) Business Development and Client Servicing
  • Work closely with internal banking and marketing teams to promote China/HK Equity products
  • Meet with prospects and help close potential new business by explaining the investment process and strategies
  • Conduct portfolio review with clients on a regular basis
  • Prepare presentation and review materials

3) Research and Analysis
  • Research China companies within the MSCI China A index universe
  • Write and present investment strategies and review to the investment committee


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing and/or researching China/HK equity portfolios
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in finance, accounting, business or related field; MBA and/or CFA preferred
  • Chinese language skill is highly desired, Mandarin is a must, Cantonese optional but preferred
  • Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to develop and articulate investment process
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all level in organization
  • Ability to take initiative and function independently in a team oriented environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Proven track record in developing client relationships
