Overall Summary

The Portfolio Analyst within the Portfolio Research and Consulting Group requires an experience profile that can contribute in the areas of; investment analytics, investment research, and technology projects. This position demands refined analytical, quantitative, technical, and inter-personal skills associated with working on a team of Portfolio Consultants and Portfolio Analysts.  Also required is a subject matter proficiency in the following areas; Fintech applications, investment analysis, asset allocation, data visualization, and business intelligence reporting from varying sources and investment databases.

Major Responsibilities

  • Investment Analysis:
    • Collaborate with fellow Analysts in the analytical request processes centered around multi-asset class portfolios, investment products, asset allocation, and risk exposures
    • Perform forensic analysis and prove strategies as to the efficacy of risk measurement metrics application and interpretation
    • Create efficiencies and automation in process and reporting and capitalize and optimize on the use of all proprietary and licensed data and technology
  • Investment Research:
    • Support investment research efforts and strategies centered around manager selection and asset class surveillance
    • Develop a personalized research process that involves screening qualitative and quantitative criteria
    • Investigate, explore, and identify tools, techniques, and metrics relating to allocation and selection effects in portfolio construction
  • Project Work:
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the technology infrastructure including all licensed and proprietary software applications and data
    • Collaborate with the business, the Information Technology department, and technology vendors on operation and enhancements to systems and data needs
    • Partner, support, or lead inter- and intra-department projects and business initiatives including requirements gathering, testing, and production release
  • Client Service and Team Involvement:
    • Demonstrate a leading service-mindset with business partners and with intra-and inter-departmental collaborations
    • Effectively communicate and exhibit characteristics of a strong team player and contributor
    • Possess a high degree of professionalism and an unsurpassed work ethic

Education / Experience / Skills Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or related field
  • Have accomplished, or be in pursuit of, an advanced degree or industry designation
  • Several years of experience in the financial services industry required
  • Proficiency with risk and analytical software (MPI Stylus, FactSet, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Tableau)
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel including macros and VBA
  • Experience with client-facing teams, analytics, and thought leadership
  • Refined written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines while remaining flexible toward unexpected changes
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and resourcefulness
  • FINRA Series 7 License required (or achieved within 6 months)
