Investment Analyst, External Program

Temporary Full-Time Position (20 months with a possibility to become permanent)

 

Currently we are looking for an Investment Analyst, External Program to join our Investment Management team and contribute to the management of the organization’s $11 billion investment portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors the performance of an assigned group of external managers and completes regular written assessments of their performance.
  • Maintains accurate records that support the compliance and external manager monitoring procedures.
  • Evaluates and proposes new investment strategies and mandates.
  • Assists the Head of Externally Managed Investments in the evaluation and selection of new external investment managers including utilizing manager databases to compile candidate information and screen candidates.
  • Provides research support for portfolio management projects; including investment policy, investment procedures, asset allocation, portfolio rebalancing and investment manager structure.
  • Based on analysis, communicates investment ideas and recommendations to the rest of the Investment Management Team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Investment Operations and Risk team on operational, compliance and risk management activities.
  • Responsible for completing assigned projects from the annual Investment Management Department Project List.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • CFA charter is preferred; Completion of Level 1 of the CFA program is a minimum requirement.
  • Preferably 3 years of research experience in a financial institution environment and exposure to the investment function.
  • Working knowledge of mathematical, statistical and economic methods applied in investment management.
  • Strong analytical ability and very well developed writing ability.
  • A strong background in computing with advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with investment management tools including Bloomberg would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute within a team environment.
  • Well-developed verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
