Burney Company is a fee-only RIA located in Reston, VA founded in 1974 by retired Brigadier General Jack Burney. The firm manages $1.7 billion, primarily for mass-affluent & high net worth individuals. We operate in two segments offering Investment Management and Wealth Management services to our clients.

We are seeking a financial services professional with a focus on managing client relationships and generating referrals. Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for a subset of our clients
  • Prepare and conduct portfolio reviews
  • Communicate with clients quarterly via phone, email and/or in person
  • Develop relationships with clients to better understand their investment needs and changing life circumstances
  • Identify opportunities to refer Investment Management clients who could benefit from additional Wealth Management services
  • Identify consolidation opportunities
  • Identify and pursue client referrals
  • Work collaboratively with our team to deliver a great client experience
  • Manage client pipeline and follow up in our CRM system (Salesforce)


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CFP® and/or CFA designation preferred
  • 3+ years experience in the financial services industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience utilizing CRM systems and comfort with FinTech solutions
  • Candidates must have a clean compliance record
