Description

Product Control consists of a team of technical product controllers providing front line support to the business. The department's key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting daily P&L to business and senior management
  • Ensuring all P&L's are fully explainable via risk parameter attribution and indirect responsibility for accurate risk reporting
  • Ensuring the correct controls and processes are in place to manage new and existing products
  • Independent price verification

The products include Interest Rates, Credit, MBS, Equity and Hybrids, including vanilla and exotics portfolios.

The department is pivotal and central to the business and other support departments and is significantly involved with major systems implementations programs. This may involve business process re-engineering and developing new processes entirely as well as enhancing current P&L and valuation methodologies.

Main purpose of the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Control professional to join our Product Control team to support the firm's Front Office business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and analysis of daily P&L by risk attribution and market commentary;
  • Pricing and some Risk reports for a specific business group on timely and accurate basis;
  • Conducting detailed analysis in support of the Product Control function;
  • Liaison and control of Front Office and all trade support teams;
  • Month-end close process including reconciliation and adjustments;
  • Monthly management and metrics reporting;
  • Ad-hoc projects and systems implementation / enhancements; and
  • Implementing effective process controls and process re-engineering

Profile

    • 3 to 5 years post-degree experience;
    • Experience working within Product Control function at an Investment bank in a P&L and/or Valuations role;A strong technical knowledge of capital markets and financial market products;
    • Advanced level of Excel, Visual Basic skills;
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal skill
    • Strong academic records
    • Understanding of financial regulations and how they affect the business;
    • Studying towards CFA
    • Driven / high commitment levels and strong work ethic
    • Excellent communication and interaction skills and ability to precisely articulate at all levels and across departments
    • Ability to interact effectively with senior front office and support management
    • Good time management skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Work and communicate effectively in a team environment
    • The ability to collaborate efficiently in projects with team members
    • Able to work under own initiative and be flexible and self-motivate
