BASIC FUNCTION:
As Business Development Officer, responsible for marketing Wilmington Trust’s Asset Management strategies (mutual funds, separately managed accounts and limited partnerships) through various channels to increase revenue and Assets Under Management (AUM).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a large network of contacts, build relationships with allocators, schedule conference calls and meetings with the firm’s investment staff and end buyers such as wirehouses (Home Office personnel), endowments, foundations, pension funds, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), family offices, etc., to help drive assets under management growth in various Wilmington Trust strategies. Complete a needs analysis with the end buyers as required to ensure the appropriate Asset Management strategies are recommended.
Institutionalize the sales and marketing process for our Asset Management strategies; create and maintain processes to ensure best practices in the firm’s client relationships.
Develop and strengthen relationships between the Company and asset allocators to support marketing efforts.
Maintain appropriate records of sales activity in the appropriate system to support future sales efforts.
Educate internal client-facing staff at Wilmington Trust and M&T Securities on our Asset Management strategies to generate additional leads for new business development.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
In support of corporate initiatives to increase revenue and profitability, Asset Management has created this position dedicated to market our proprietary Asset Management strategies through investment professionals to various clients, including wire houses, endowments, foundations, corporate and public pension funds, investment consultants and Home Office relationships at large wirehouses. Key to success in the position are developing and expanding this network of asset allocators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelors’ degree and a minimum of 7 years’ asset management business development experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years’ asset management business development experience
Proven track record in sales
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Self-starter
Entrepreneurial nature

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Series 7 and 63 licenses or ability to obtain within 6 months of job start date
Series 24 license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel
