Kroll Bond Rating Agency, Inc. (KBRA) is seeking an Associate Director to join its growing Funds Rating team to focus on conducting fundamental credit research and monitoring of a portfolio of funds, closed-end funds, and other structures utilizing various investment strategies.  The analyst will have direct involvement in KBRA’s credit rating process with ample exposure to senior KBRA employees as well as key executives at the rated entities. The position will be based out of KBRA’s New York City office.


Key Job Requirements:

  •  Conduct credit research on a variety of funds, closed-end funds, and other investment vehicles
  •  Monitor a wide variety of investment strategies utilized various structures within our growing Funds rating coverage
  •  Develop a credit opinion with presentations in writing and in person to credit committees
  •  Alert team and the credit committee on a timely basis when a rating change is suggested by the active surveillance process and provide a written record to support the committee process
  •  Assist in the preparation for, and follow-up from, issuer meetings
  • Work with issuer’s bankers and attorneys
  • Provide input to credit analyses for published and private reports for issuers and investors
  • Develop industry/sector expertise                                                                                                  
  • Foster relationships in the sector including research/data sources, industry commentators, buy side researchers, issuer prospects in the industry, rating advisory teams within investment banks and sector bankers
  • Support project finance, corporate finance, financial institutions, and structured finance teams as many of their counterparties are interested parties, investors and obligors 
  •  Assist in the development of rating and analytical tools focused on Funds and fund issuance


Key Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, economics, management or a related field
  • 5-10 years of work experience in a financial analyst role within a corporate bank or other financial institution, credit training and research experience is a plus
  • Strong interest and relevant experience in credit, fixed income research  or capital markets
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and Excel skills
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team and across disciplines in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Ability to manage time and resources in a fast growing company
