Job Description

  • The CIS will be a critical member of the Investment Strategy Team based in Chicago and will be expected to be an active participant on the Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) Committee and the Investment Policy Committee (IPC) which are responsible for multi-asset class strategy management and policy at Northern Trust Asset Management. Will be expected to lead regional asset class recommendations across EMEA and APAC
  • Contribute to thought leadership and original investment strategy research
  • Will be responsible for playing a leading role in the development, successful launch and subsequent portfolio management  of a multi-asset class fund  in Europe, and support asset gathering of such strategy
  • Work closely with distribution to support current client relationships and gather new assets broadly
  • Appear in various media to help promote the Northern Trust  Asset Management identity and brand in Europe and elsewhere

Required Background:

  • CFA and MBA preferred, if not expected, with strong intellect and curiosity
  • 15 plus years of relevant work experience in asset management
  • Multi-lingual capabilities with fluency in English and at least one other continental European language with a strong preference for Dutch and/or German
  • Strong investment background in managing global multi-asset class strategies. Particular experience in emerging markets would be preferred
  • Possess commercial acumen and a desire and ability to help gather assets under management
  • Experience dealing directly with sophisticated institutional clients
  • Interest and ability to conduct  and write original investment strategy research
  • History of product development and innovation
  • Interest and ability to speak at industry conferences and with various media, including television, traditional print and on-line forums
  • Experience of working at a multi-business line  financial institution with matrix reporting lines and shared clients across various business groups would be helpful
  • Willingness to travel within Europe and globally on a frequent basis
  • Candidates with diverse backgrounds will be actively considered
