Associate | Portfolio Analyst

Sullivan, Bruyette, Speros & Blayney, LLC (SBSB) has a current opening for a full-time Portfolio Analyst to join our fee-only Wealth Advisory Practice in McLean, VA. This position works collaboratively on a client service team to provide portfolio management and trading services for our clients.
 
As an SBSB Portfolio Analyst you will be mentored by and work alongside our deeply experienced CFA Charterholders, CAIA Charterholders, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals and will have the opportunity to address portfolio management strategies and questions.

Key Portfolio Analyst Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct portfolio analysis of current portfolios and develop investment plans, investment policy statements, Morningstar analysis and other investment-related analysis (stock, fund reviews).
  • Prepare research and recommend investment ideas and/or strategies to be presented at Investment Policy Committee meetings.
  • Utilize tools such as FactSet, Morningstar and Tamarac to support overall PM department research.
  • Participate in SBSB Investment Policy Committee (IPC) meetings and help with efficient implementation and communication of committee recommendations.

Trading and Compliance

  • Support in some aspects of portfolio trading, rebalancing and dollar-cost averaging.
  • Assist with the assembly of data for compliance requests.

Client Servicing

  • Work with financial planning teams to develop investment plans and portfolio strategy while taking into account the financial plan and specific client situation/circumstances.
  • Assist in developing templates and visuals for presentations to IPC and financial planning teams.
  • Help keep key portfolio management material up-to-date for financial planning teams use.

Key Portfolio Analyst Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics.
  • Entry level to 2 years of portfolio management experience.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong interest in becoming a CFA Charterholder. Desire to become a CAIA Charterholder a plus.
  • Works well independently and in a team atmosphere.
