What is the Corporate Credit team responsible for?

Our Corporate Credit Research team performs independent credit research and makes recommendations to our portfolio managers. As a Research Analyst in our London office you'll be a key member of our global credit team, focused on European investment grade and/or high yield issuers within several assigned industry sectors. You'll work closely with portfolio managers and analysts in London and other Franklin Templeton offices across the globe, sharing investment ideas, industry insights, and market information.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Corporate Credit Research Analyst?

• Perform thorough, well-supported and concise fundamental research on assigned industry sectors
• Conduct independent research by speaking with company management and industry contacts
• Compile data from multiple sources to develop detailed financial models
• Present investment research findings, ideas and recommendations to Portfolio Managers
• Discuss and debate fundamental credit views and relative value recommendations
• Regularly interact with fixed income team members across regions


What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

• Current or prior experience as a credit analyst, ideally covering both investment grade and high yield industry sectors
• Buy-side experience preferred; however rating agency or sell-side experience will also be considered
• Ability and willingness to assume coverage of new sectors as team needs evolve
• Strong working knowledge of fixed income securities and financial markets
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate financial analysis and recommendations
• Solid analytical and organizational skills; desire to work in a market-driven environment
• Ability to build detailed financial models
• Proficiency with Bloomberg and all Microsoft Office applications; especially Excel
• Bachelor's degree required, an MBA or advanced education would be advantageous
• CFA designation or progress toward obtaining preferred
