What is the Sr Investment Writer responsible for?

The Senior Investment Writer will play an important role in the ongoing development of Franklin Templeton's thematic marketing efforts globally with an emphasis on goals-based and solutions portfolio construction themes. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled writer/reporter, with deep investment knowledge and understanding of the asset management industry. A proven ability to develop and write clear and engaging content to deadline is essential.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Sr Investment Writer?
  • Writing and overseeing production of complex and high-profile commentary and other content deliverables (e.g. top portfolio managers, market perspective pieces)
  • Write both long and short form content under tight deadlines for various mediums
  • Generate ideas and develop clear themes on a variety of complex financial concepts and topics intended for advisors and institutions around the world
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with internal partners (Sales, Portfolio, Legal, Creative Services) to accomplish department objectives
  • Develop and maintain in-depth expertise of client needs and interests, business insight and market trends through independent research as well as consultation with internal partners
  • Manage projects/deliverables by actively communicating with team members about deadlines and informing all interested parties of deliverable timelines and status
  • Contribute to editorial calendar through monitoring strategies, industry and market activities
  • Remain current with compliance rules

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • At least 6-8 years of successful writing experience, investment industry or financial journalism background strongly desired. MBA, CFA a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in economics, business, English, journalism or similar discipline.
  • Deep understanding of asset management industry and multi asset strategies
  • Proven ability to develop and write clear and engaging content on investment-related themes
  • Demonstrated success in a deadline driven environment, project management, attention to detail, organization of materials and cooperating with team members
  • Self-starter who can work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry rules, guidelines, and standards a plus

  • Understanding of asset management industry
  • Exceptional storytelling skills
  • Excellent research and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency interpreting statistical information to support storytelling
  • A team player that develops strong relationships internally and externally
  • Self-starter who can work independently
