SWIB is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead efforts to transform the way information is created, used, and communicated in order to leverage data to make effective business decisions. The Data Engineer will partner with technology, project teams, and business users to ensure compliance with the complex data architecture by overseeing data models, business rules, data source mappings, and ETL development.

Essential activities:

  • Lead efforts to define data filtering, cleaning, and validation processes
  • Lead efforts to standardize the reconciliation and data compare processes
  • Define and drive the processes and technologies needed to collect, store, and leverage metadata
  • Partner with the data architect to design and build scalable data models and data schemas that support the business
  • Implement data security policies
  • Monitor trends, perform root cause analysis, and propose strategic corrective and preventive actions for data-related processes and technologies
  • Work with business teams to define data models and data flows to enable downstream analytics
  • Establish processes for advancing the use of data in data mining, statistical analysis, modeling

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Business, or related program
  • 7+ years of experience in a data management role
  • Experience with SQL and/or Oracle
  • Experience with ETL processes
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools
  • Investment industry experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to be adaptive and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment

The position requires U.S. work authorization and residency in, or willingness to relocate to, the Madison, Wisconsin area. SWIB is prepared to offer relocation assistance as needed.
