The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) Vice Presidency of the World Bank is the core unit responsible for institutional risk oversight, including establishing and monitoring adherence to risk policies and guidelines, risk assessment and reporting to executive management and the Board. We are in search of a Director to lead the Market & Counterparty Risk Department and be responsible for assessing and ensuring risk oversight for each of the following areas: Market Risk, Commercial Counterparty Risk, and Model Risk.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or higher in finance, mathematics, economics or other relevant discipline.
  • Seasoned manager typically with at least 15 years' relevant experience in financial risk management and/or oversight, including experience in fixed income and derivatives markets, in market and commercial credit risk, in treasury risk oversight with a strong quantitative/model dimension, experience in providing intellectual leadership and a proven track record as a manager of professional staff.
  • Excellent leadership skills, particularly demonstrated in a complex organizational setting with responsibilities for demanding technical responsibilities, complex negotiations, requiring diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of financial markets, products and participants - especially fixed income and financial derivatives; experience launching/evaluating new product/project proposals. Thorough knowledge of financial theory and techniques, corporate finance, financial markets, derivatives, and tools of financial risk analysis and accounting.
