Securities Analyst II, Senior or Consulting Analyst, International

General Summary:

Grade 311, 312 & 314: Under the direction of the director, International Equities, conduct research and make investment recommendations for the international portfolio based on fundamental security analysis.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Grade 311:

1. Analyze fundamental macroeconomic and market-related country data on China and recommend appropriate country allocation.

 

2. Analyze fundamental industry and company data; including but not limited to, examination of accounting, financial, and competitive factors within China.

 

3. Advise STRS portfolio managers regarding the investment merit of individual securities and industries.

 

4. Maintain contact with brokerage-house analysts and investment managers who specialize in industry segments and countries corresponding to those of the analyst.

 

5. Travel includes company and country visits, sponsored field trips, conferences, and financial analyst society meetings.

 

        6. Prepare special projects as directed.

     6. At the request of the director, International Equities, act as mentor for less experienced analysts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Grade 311:

  1. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in business administration or accounting preferred.
  2. Three to five years of experience in analytical investment research position strongly recommended.
  3. Ability to research, collect, and analyze data and make valid conclusions.  Knowledge of relevant analytical preferred.
  4. Successful completion of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level I examination strongly recommended.
  5. Fluent in speaking and reading Mandarin Chinese strongly recommended.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  7. Ability to work well with minimal direct supervision.
  8. Excellent work record of attendance and punctuality; occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours required.

    Grade 312:

  1. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in business administration or accounting preferred.
  2. Three to five years experience in analytical securities research position required.
  3. Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions.  Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.

  2. Four to five years experience in analytical securities research position required.
  3. Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions.  Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.
  4. Chartered Financial Analyst Program (CFA) certification completion required.  Ten plus years experience may substitute for the CFA.
  5. Fluent in speaking and reading Mandarin Chinese strongly recommended.
  6. Superior oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  7. Ability to work well with minimal direct supervision.
  8. Proven ability and willingness to exhibit leadership in enhancing the overall body of knowledge of STRS Ohio.
  9. Excellent work record of attendance and punctuality; occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours required.
