Assistant Portfolio Manager

Implementing Options Strategy in Client Portfolios

The Assistant Portfolio Manager’s primary responsibility is to work closely with our senior portfolio manager in the day-to-day management of the client portfolios comprised of equities, ETF’s and equity options, primarily covered call writing.  This position will be based at our headquarters office in Denver or in our satellite office in San Francisco.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Construct, trade, and manage client portfolios, employing options overlays for volatility monetization, tail risk mitigation, and return optimization
  • Communicate with new and existing clients and advisors about their investment objectives, portfolio strategy including the reporting of investment activity and performance
  • Work in collaboration with our sales professionals to solicit RIA business for Shelton Capital Management as the sub-advisor or primary money manager for their client accounts
  • Assist with research in support of firm's investment strategies 
  • Identify areas to improve efficiency and risk control throughout the portfolio implementation process
  • Stay current on market developments and related research particularly as it pertains to option overlay strategies

 

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CFA preferred
  • Series 7 and 65/66 License
  • 4+ years of consultant, portfolio manager, derivatives sales/trading, or related experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Advent, Bloomberg and ThinkPipes
  • Expertise with MS Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build credibility and gain the confidence of clients and individuals at all levels required
