Position:          Equity Portfolio Manager - Fund of Funds 

Report to:      Senior Equity Portfolio Manager - Fund of Funds   

Principal Duties of the position, including but not limited to:

  • Manage an allocated range of equity fund of fund portfolios. This will include the following:
    • Achieving stated performance goals against peer groups and benchmarks within a defined risk framework 
    • Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of the portfolios and the underlying fund investments. This will include assessing their overall suitability with target performance standards and risk framework
    • To work with the strategy team, fund research team, and trading teams with respect to portfolio construction and management of the funds
    • Presenting to the Investment Committee; providing regular reporting and making investment proposals as required to key stakeholders
    • Presenting performance updates to stakeholders including distributors
    • Acting as a backup support to the Head of Equity Portfolio Management (Fund of Funds)
    • To contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the investment process.  To provide input to other portfolio managers across other funds as needed
    • Supporting compliance, regulatory, risk, operational functions including but not limited to the following: 1) on boarding of new managers and funds 2) Liaising with third party investment managers in agreeing investment guidelines 3) Preparing manager and fund documentation as required
    • Ad hoc projects as required

The Candidate

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of equity markets
  • Background in portfolio construction of fund of funds is an advantage
  • Ability to pitch well constructed investment ideas to a wider forum
  • CFA qualification is advantageous or the candidate should be studying towards achieving this qualification
  • An analytical background with a degree in an economics, business, or quantitative discipline
  • Strong knowledge of the main asset classes; (equities, fixed income, alternatives)
  • Ability to pitch well constructed investment ideas to a wider forum
  • Numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail as a pre-requisite as is the ability to work to deadlines in a team based environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (both oral & written).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and Morningstar is an advantage
