Credit Analyst – Finance Sector

LIM is seeking a Credit Analyst with experience covering the Financial sector to join our Boston-based corporate bond research team. The candidate will work in partnership with Portfolio Managers and Traders to implement investment recommendations consistent with our client’s objectives of protecting downside while generating consistent, attractive total returns.

The candidate is expected to have developed an appreciation for, and skill base in, risk management, together with evidence of investment acumen and superior analytical skills. A track record of security selection is required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth fundamental credit analysis on the financial sector, including banks, brokers, and insurance companies, across both the investment grade and high yield universe;
  • Create historical and forward looking financial projections and analyze credit metrics;
  • Independently construct investment opinions, trading recommendations, and industry outlooks, and assess relative value metrics to identify investments with attractive risk-adjusted profiles;
  • Develop views on economic, competitive, and regulatory developments that affect the financial sector and companies under coverage;
  • Effectively communicate investment recommendations verbally and in writing to Portfolio Managers, Traders and the credit team;
  • Contribute to ad-hoc research projects and white papers.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of credit research experience covering banks or insurance companies is required.
  • CFA and/or Master’s degree preferred;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and accuracy;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate complex concepts and investment recommendations succinctly and with conviction. Willingness to contribute to ad hoc projects and thought leadership publications;
  • Flexible and self-motivated with an ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks concurrently;
  • Ability to operate independently but also effectively in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment;
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Bloomberg.
