Investment Analyst

Position Summary

Dancap Private Equity Inc. (“Dancap”), a Canadian family investment office, is seeking an Investment Analyst to join the investment management team on November 15, 2017.  He/she will report to and work closely with members of Dancap’s senior management and is expected to take a proactive role in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of a global diversified investment portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen potential opportunities across private equity funds, co-investments and direct investments using various analytical tools including Preqin’s Private Equity Services
  • Assess hedge funds, fixed income, public equities and other potential opportunities using analytical tools including PSN database and Bloomberg
  • Perform due diligence activities on investment opportunities and build financial models to forecast returns, assess risk and volatility
  • Develop investment thesis and written research reports and articulate findings and recommendations in a clear, well-supported and well-documented manner
  • Prepare documentation related to closing of transactions including completion of subscription documents and the review of relevant legal documents
  • Communicate with portfolio companies and fund managers with any queries as required, including tax filings, legal document amendments and extension requests
  • Maintain a thorough grasp of current market conditions, the economic outlook and academic research with the objective of incorporating the best insights into portfolio and investment research
  • Actively contribute to the development, recommendation, and implementation of investment processes/procedures, asset mix policies and associated investment strategies, including keeping senior management apprised of how well results are tracking against strategy expectations
  • Monitor existing portfolio investments and prepare quarterly reporting packages for the investment committee using portfolio tracking and accounting software including Burgiss’ Private I
  • Assist in handling of capital calls and distributions for funds
  • Various other tasks as assigned by senior management

Position Requirements

  • University or post graduate degree in finance, economics or accounting
  • A CFA designation (in progress) would be preferred
  • Ideally 2+ years buy-side related work experience
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Understanding and application of fundamental investment analysis and portfolio theory
  • Superior written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Driven, self-motivated and a team player
  • A high degree of poise, professionalism and diplomacy
  • Ability to quickly and willingly adapt to evolving priorities and deliverables timelines
  • Understanding and knowledge of alternative assets, portfolio management, and investment strategies
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate analysis and recommendations in a well-documented manner
  • Prefers to work in a small office environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and investment software (Private I, Preqin, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, PSN)
