The Opportunity:

  • Truly unique opportunity, newly created in order to facilitate the anticipated accelerated growth of my alternative investment client
  • My client manage a growing range of innovative EIS (Enterprise Investment Solutions) and VCTs (Venture Capital Trusts), and, through the added complexity of the underlying investments there needs to be further emphasis on portfolio risk management
  • Operating as senior member of the business, you will be in a high profile position reporting directly into the CFO with a focus on Risk Management, Fund Governance and Compliance with HMRC financial and non-financial rules related to VCTs and investee companies
  • The initial requirement will be to establish and robust and scalable risk management framework, documenting all the procedures involved for the monitoring of investments made by the funds
  • Working closely with the investment desks and CFO you will use your professional judgement to escalate potential warning signs and work closely with the management teams at the investment companies, ensuring open and honest dialogue
  • Similarly, working closely with the Monitoring Committee you will be responsible for the preparation of the deal review pack
  • Ensure robust corporate governance procedures for investee companies are being conducted correctly and ensure an audit trail of agreed procedures to internal and external audiences, as well as oversee the preparation of board minutes for investee companies
  • Also, ensure investee companies are adhering to HMRC advances assurance applications and develop appropriate reporting to senior management


Your Experience:

  • You will have a very strong record of academic achievement and be either a qualified accountant (ACA preferred but not essential), and / or CFA
  • You will have extensive experience of working within a credit or risk role from a regulated lending environment, ideally with experience of working within a small to medium sized financial institution
  • Experience of SME or property lending, or, development finance experience would be highly desirable
  • My client are effectively looking for your advice and knowledge to establish a risk management function, so, it is key that you understand the mechanics in granular detail
  • You must be sharp, astute, professional, and commercial in the approach to your work
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
