Miles Capital has an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager with proven leadership and results to join our firm. The Fixed Income Portfolio Manager will successfully manage fixed income portfolios across a variety of investment strategies and maximize the contribution of the portfolio to client objectives. The position will effectively collaborate with a cross functional team of analysts, asset class managers, client service, and business development personnel to design and implement investment solutions for clients and prospects.


The duties of the Fixed Income Portfolio Manager will include acting as a fixed income sector specialist, managing fixed income portfolios across several mandates and client objectives, collaborating with the investment and client service teams to craft portfolio strategy, fostering counterparty relationships to execute on trading strategy, and meeting with clients to effectively communicate portfolio strategy and strengthen relationships.

  • Manage fixed income portfolios across several mandates and strategies including oversight of portfolio construction and trade implementation
  • Serve as sector specialist within the fixed income team on assigned sectors and lead in establishing investment opinions and sector recommendations
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and other team members to develop investment strategy and generate investment ideas
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with institutional trading counterparties and broker/dealers
  • Work closely with Client Portfolio Managers and client service to communicate and implement strategy
  • Meet with clients to review investment strategy, performance, and client objectives as required
  • Monitor, analyze, and manage portfolio characteristics including risk, performance, and attribution, to ensure adherence to strategy and client guidelines and achievement of desired results
  • Represent all aspects of Miles Capital’s brand to existing and prospective clients 
  • Examine current processes for inefficiencies or enhancements; recommend and implement improvements
  • Support relationship management and new business development, including fixed income strategy commercialization, thought capital idea and research generation, and new product development

Experience & Education

  • College degree required, advanced degree a plus
  • CFA designations strongly desired
  • Prefer 7+ years fixed income portfolio management experience, preferably part of that time with insurance clients
  • Broad understanding of fixed income asset classes and instruments
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional fixed income investment performance
  • External client facing experience including board reporting and new business presentations
  • In depth knowledge of MS Office products and standard fixed income systems such as Bloomberg and BondEdge(a plus)
  • Knowledge of investment needs of insurance companies
