POSITION SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

SUMMARY: This position will be a member of a team of technology professionals that are aligned with the Investment Risk area at the firm. As a team member with strong domain expertise, the position will participate in all phases of the solution lifecycle including definition, design, delivery, enhancement and support of Investment Risk applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business analysis
  • Develop a strong understanding of the applications, processes and data that support the Investment Risk team
  • Analyze requirements across multiple data domains including market data (e.g. SMF, Benchmarks, Security Pricing & Analytics), investment/custodial accounting data and Risk Attribution/Analytics
  • Work with business users to define the functional, data and process requirements. Requirements analysis scope will run from significant change the business initiatives to run the business updates
  • Collaborate with the business users and technical team members to facilitate the creation of sound, efficient and supportable solutions that meet the business needs
  • Support testing and troubleshooting through an ability to navigate a relational database and writing simple to complex SQL queries to extract and analyze data
  • Participate and assist in ongoing run-the-business application support and production migrations
  • Create documentation and provide end user training for newly implemented solutions

Project Management
  • Create detailed project plans
  • Manage the execution of the defined projects to the established budget, work closely with the business unit and IT leadership regarding project progress and expectations, and provide regular status reports detailing progress relative to milestones, project costs, issues, and risks
  • Facilitate all aspects of user acceptance testing including creation and execution of use/test cases, bug tracking, review, prioritization, and resolution
  • Assist with active management of vendors that support the aforementioned business units
  • Be an active member of the BC/DR planning and execution process, working with the team to ensure that the needs of the business units are properly documented and met in BC/DR exercises



QUALIFICATIONS:


Education
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Business, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Master's degree or CFA/FRM certification an added plus

Experience
  • Minimum ten years of experience working as a hands-on Business Analyst and Project Manager in an IT organization within the Investment Management industry (preferably) or Financial Services industry, with project experience in the Investment Risk area
  • Strong understanding of investment data and multiple asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income and Derivatives
  • Broad knowledge of IT, including experience in SDLC and Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
  • Experience in liquidity reporting, risk process workflow design, and stress/back testing of Risk models an added plus
  • Experience with one of more of the following applications- FactSet (preferable), Barra Portfolio Manager, Bloomberg and Eagle an added plus

  • Strong understanding of SQL and data modeling concepts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
  • Exposure to one or more database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle) and business intelligence/reporting tools (Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, OBIEE) an added plus
