The Delegated Investment Services (DIS) team manages c£39 bn of assets. The team undertakes construction of portfolios incorporating Willis Towers Watson's best ideas, and implement these strategies that are more appropriate for today's complex markets.

The Role

As an Investment Analyst you will support a number of internal groups responsible for the devising, setting and management of client portfolios. This will be an internal role focussed upon WTW's Portfolio Management Group (PMG), specific client portfolios and the funds managed by Towers Watson Investment Management (TWIM).

Work by the analyst will support: setting of portfolio's investment objectives, maintenance of investment models, additional portfolio analysis, manager selection, performance measurement and evaluation and investment manager monitoring

Performance Objectives:


  • Commitment to providing a 'best in class' service to internal teams and adherence to 'Professional Excellence' principles and procedures.

  • Ability to take ownership for internal projects, both regular and ah-hoc in relation to portfolio management.

  • Write and review reports in a timely and effective manner for internal consideration

  • Assist in production of materials for internal meetings covering investment decisions and market research


  • Build strong relationships internally in the PMG and collaborate effectively on across other key teams (Client Consultants, Structured products, Manager Research etc.).

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with colleagues at all levels.

  • Periodic involvement with relevant technical working parties.


  • Deal with Researchers and Consultants in order to aid portfolio management process in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Support senior team members in construction and delivery of presentations to internal groups.

  • Deal with both more senior and junior colleagues on a day to day basis

The Requirements

  • Minimum 2:1 degree is required along with progress towards or willingness to study for relevant professional qualifications, such as CFA, FIA or equivalent.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Interest in investment issues and desire to deepen knowledge over time.

  • Knowledge and understanding of different asset classes.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to deliver timely and accurate solutions, sometimes at short notice.

  • Able to fit seamlessly into a team of senior and more junior people all focussed on delivering work of exceptional quality.

  • Good IT (especially Excel and PowerPoint) skills.
