Senior Investment Analyst
The Farland Group seeks a highly motivated Senior Investment Analyst to work closely with the Chief Investment Officer and other members of the Investment Committee on all investment functions.  

Qualifications

  • CFA designation required
  • 5+ years of experience in investment research/portfolio management
  • Experience in equity and mutual fund research
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and FactSet
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work well within a team environment
  • Must be flexible, resourceful and results driven
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

Primary Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the management of a value-oriented, focused equity portfolio
    • Generate new ideas through screens
    • Assess individual investments through fundamental research and analysis, 10-Ks and calls with management
    • Summarize recommended new ideas and present to the investment committee
    • Monitor the equity portfolio to continually assess if any positions should be added to or sold based on market action and/or news flow
    • Oversee each client’s allocation to the equity portfolio
  • Lead the mutual fund review process
    • Regularly hold calls with mutual fund PMs
    • Assess short-term and long-term performance
    • Review underlying positions and sector weights
    • Consider whether a mutual fund should be added, sold or placed on watch
  • Participate on the Investment Committee
    • Report on the equity portfolio performance – both individual positions and overall performance
    • Report on the mutual fund review process and mutual fund watch list
    • Report any top-down market views that may impact current client asset allocation
  • Assist the CIO with other duties
    • Write or assist in the development of quarterly market summaries and other original written content to update clients and prospects
    • Continually assess sector valuation and expected returns to determine if client allocation should be adjusted to reflect potential opportunities
    • Assist the advisors in client meetings when necessary

Education

  • BA/BS required (concentration in business, finance, or related field preferred)
  • Advanced degree a plus
