The Business

Investment, Risk and Reinsurance

Our sophisticated approach to risk helps clients free up capital. We work in close concert with investors, reinsurers, and insurers to manage the equation between risk and return. Blending advanced analytics with deep institutional knowledge, we reveal new opportunities to maximize performance.

The Role

This role sits across our IISG and WM teams (notionally split 50/50) and will support the growth of the service lines in terms of proposition development, take to market and client delivery.

IISG provides a range of investment services to EMEA insurers. These include setting strategic investment objectives, strategic asset allocation, asset liability management and hedging review and solutions, internal model validation, investment management organisational design and governance, manager selection and monitoring, risk and performance management and the provision of market outlook and asset allocation positioning.

The work undertaken by WM is non-standard. It ranges from core strategic modelling and consulting on the overall governance structure of the organisation to very deep technical questions around the underlying strategies employed.

The successful candidate will support a variety of client projects and market initiatives across both the IISG and WM teams.

Your main responsibilities will be as follows.


  • Support senior analysts, consultants and senior consultants to deliver technical / strategy client engagements to clients. Our clients vary by type, location and size, typically some of the largest institutions by AUM in their region

  • Write and review reports in a timely and effective manner

  • Your role will be consistent with the broad remit of the team and you will be expected to be involved in all aspects of developing and enhance the work we do. This will involve an element of research concepts and making these commercial to meet the needs of our clients


  • You will develop your personal internal network to ensure the IISG and WM propositions are aligned with broader investment thinking within the Investment Line of Business (LoB). As well as developing your external network as appropriate

  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels

  • Periodic involvement with technical working parties and provision of training to more junior members of the team and practice

  • Your input, thoughts and ideas will be integral to the future development of the teams

  • You will contribute to the culture of teamwork through collaboration


  • Commitment to providing a 'best in class' service to clients and adherence to 'Professional Excellence' principles and procedures

  • Directly contribute to clients' success through applying your technical expertise

  • You will adhere to Professional Excellence principles of firm and evidence this when required

The Requirements


  • Be degree qualified with potentially a post graduate qualification

  • Studying towards either actuarial/CFA exams or similar

  • 1-2 years relevant experience, preferably in financial services

  • Have strong quantitative skills and confidence with the technical, liability and capital related aspects of asset work or the ability to develop these

  • You should have investment expertise and some experience in one of the following: investment research, investment strategy, investment consulting and management consulting.

  • Be capable of applying investment 'content' knowledge to a client's investment 'context'

  • Investment / insurance experience working in industry


  • Ability to develop new approaches where one doesn't exist under the guidance of seniors

  • Flexibility and adaptability to learn new skills/ways of working

  • Familiarity with insurance regulation detail is desirable

  • It is desirable you have a good understanding of how an investment organisation works from the senior leadership through to asset class and/or functional areas in either an internally or externally managed environment

  • Professional maturity to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-moving environment

  • Ability to work comfortably yet with empathy in a client situation
