Fund Manager - Global Real Estate - London

The Role

We are looking for a Fund Manager to join our Direct Fund Management, Global Real Estate team. This is an exciting opportunity to join and be involved at an early stage in helping to grow a new high profile real estate fund. You will act in accordance with fund management agreements to achieve agreed performance objectives, ensuring that the fund operates within agreed operating parameters as well as taking a lead role in marketing activity with both existing and potential clients. You will maximise profitable fee income through retaining existing clients and securing new clients, take responsibility for more complex funds as well as some of the more complex sophisticated clients and identify continuous improvement opportunities that will deliver synergies and efficiencies across Real Estate.


  • Analyse market conditions and understand the investment environment to develop informed and measured investment opinions
  • Undertake Real Estate fund management within the terms of the fund management agreements to achieve superior returns
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Aviva Investors to implement innovative strategies to manage risk, optimize profits and enhance performance
  • Develop relationships to keep up to date with industry trends and investment insight
  • Collaborate with Business Development to cultivate positive relationships with prospective clients, as well as with existing clients (to encourage increased investments and reduce redemptions)
  • Use accurate assessments of risk versus reward analysis to establish realistic expectations for investment opportunities
  • You will also be responsible for supervising and / or line management of colleagues
  • Take responsibility for generating new business ideas and opportunities, support the work led by Business Development
  • Have clarity of the restrictions and guidelines in place for the fund managed and act as a role model in adherence



  • Regulatory threshold competent and approved
  • Degree or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of intellectual rigour and maturity
  • IMC or equivalent; or recognised historical knowledge, experience and/or qualification
  • CFA, equivalent qualification or acknowledged equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • An established track record in Real Estate investment management
  • Some experience in managing open- ended and closed-ended Real Estate funds structures
  • Excellent knowledge of the principal Real Estate investment markets
  • An understanding of fund strategy (theory), the ability to develop a fund strategy (practice) and up-do-date knowledge of investment processes in a rapidly changing environment
  • Good knowledge of the different corporate structuring approaches, taxation, accounting and legal practices in each geography and how they impact direct property investment
  • An up-to-date understanding of risk and risk management tools
  • Evidence of innovative thinking and the ability to turn ideas into reality
  • Experienced in preparing and presenting to new clients (winning business) and existing clients (fund reporting)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A team player and collaborator with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • A excellent communicator who can readily deploy verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Previous experience growing a Fund
