Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 50 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

The Americas Institutional Group (AIG) has responsibility of knowing the investment agenda of the institutional market of investors, retaining current client assets, and bringing in additional assets for the firm to manage.  AIG is searching for an experienced professional who can help drive meaningful growth in Wellington's defined contribution business.

The Defined Contribution Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a number of DC-focused consultants and advisers and DC record keepers, developing relationships with DC plan sponsors (generally of DC plans with between $500 million and $2 billion in assets), and working with Consultant Relations Managers to cover DC-oriented field consultants and the DC experts at "Tier 1" consulting firms.  The Specialist may on occasion also work with AIG Business Developers and Relationship Managers to develop new and deepen existing DC relationships with larger/mega DC plan sponsors.   In addition, the Specialist will contribute actively in the development and execution of the firm's broader DC strategy, including DC-related product development, marketing and thought leadership initiatives and DC-brand building for Wellington.  The Specialist will also work in close partnership with our sub-advisory partners to ensure that we are properly covering all available opportunities in this important market. In conversations with DC consultants/advisers and plan sponsors, the Specialist is likely to discuss topics such as DC plan design and construction challenges, communication issues, regulatory and marketplace developments and trends, new products, financial markets, and Wellington's range of investment styles. As an external representative of the firm in the marketplace, this individual also will be expected to participate in industry conferences and other relevant forums.

Ideal qualifications for this position would include, among others:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of ten years' experience within the investment industry
  • Solid understanding of the needs of institutional investors and the DC marketplace
  • Solid background in equity and fixed income investing
  • CFA designation, currently working toward a CFA designation, or graduate level degree preferred
