Overview:                                                                       

This role is a part of the Exotic Trade Review(ETR) and Valuations Services Group (VSG) to manage both teams providing functional oversight and direction for the Manila team as well as acting as the offshore liaison to a variety of stakeholder groups across Finance, Operations and Trading.  ETR Team deals with complex and structured trades across different asset classes to ensure all aspects of the trades are captured correctly within the risk and valuation systems, accurately reflecting the complete terms of the executed legal documentation.  The review is a crucial control mechanism for Exotics Derivative Trades within GlobalCredit and Emerging Markets Trading.VSG Team deals with technical pricing function to provide non-books and records valuations for global client structured valuations, support and query resolution. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall responsibilities and deliverables of the Credit ETR team of 14 people and VSG team of 6 people
  • Drive the team agenda, business strategies and planscontributing to the achievement of a high performance culture
  • Responsible for overall service delivery, governance and control oversight across ETR and VSG functions
  • Ensure that the process improvements both within and outside of the group are regularly incorporated and discussed with the global counterparts
  • Contribute to the Global ETR regulatory and audit remediation including ownership of the tactical BoW(Book of Work), SME input into the strategic remediation programme, and involvement in Bank responses to auditors
  • Oversee resolution of issues and escalations from VSG clients and ETR internal stakeholders by collaborating and working closely with senior management across the bank
  • Initiate and facilitate meetings with various stakeholders to discuss issues, enhance processes and deliver regulatory requirements
  • Manage all risk and control related issues and ensure correct escalation process is followed
  • Develop the team to be highly technical and motivated by coaching to ensure the team is sufficiently knowledgeable to manage stakeholders and to strengthen two-way communication and reinforce desired behaviours
  • Responsible for overall recruitment and people strategy for the team in terms of talent development, talent acquisition and L&D (Learning & Development)requirements

 

Requirements:

  • Strong background and experience in Financial Markets in areas like Product Control, Risk Reporting, Valuation, Trading or other related areas
  • Demonstrates very strong understanding of the Credit Derivatives structured products and valuations as well asOperations and Business Finance (RPL and Accounting Control) Front to Back infrastructure and processes
  • Significantexperience in managing a sizeable team or project and has a very good business and commercial acumen essential in identifying issues, develop innovative solutions and influence stakeholders
  • Must be highly analytical, thorough and is able to communicate complex information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • A strong Math and Finance knowledge is essential as the role mainly deals with mathematical risk models and complex calculations, market valuations and review of legal documentation
  • Proficient in communication at all levels in a cross-cultural environment to confidently interact with senior management and regulators (i.e. internal and external Auditors)
  • Excellent influencing, planning, problem-solving, presentation and inter-personal skills
  • Critical thinker and has the ability to challenge existing procedures and proactively look for process and system improvements
  • Has a good track record in people management and development coupled with technical knowledge to run high-performing team and attend to stakeholders' requests and issues
  • Has the ability to build solid relationships and with strong leadership capabilities to drive, improve and develop the skills and experience of team members
  • CIMA, CPA, CFA, FRM qualification an advantage
