The Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Investment Consultant within our Credit Research Team. The primary focus of the role entails researching and helping lead efforts across Global Fixed Income, Absolute Return Bond and Emerging Market Debt, interviewing some of the most highly respected credit investment managers in the world, helping to form robust opinions on such areas as investment skill and the ability to meet our clients' objectives.

Performance Objectives:


  • Act as a thought leader in credit, enhancing our brand as an innovator in the wider marketplace, both in terms of interaction with the investment industry professionals and also as an influential speaker in industry conferences

  • Ensure that our research is always of a high standard of quality

  • Ensure we are efficient, examining ways to automate processes utilising our data team

  • Ensure that actions and decisions are in keeping with the wider Investment team and are in line with our WTW mission

  • Meeting fund managers to evaluate investment teams, their business, investment processes and risk management. Understand expected returns and risk drivers.

  • Extracting and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data to help drive decision making

  • Develop ideas on new and innovative strategies or mandates not often captured via off-the-shelf options in the marketplace.

  • Produce detailed due diligence documents and communication of research views for client consumption

  • Leading both internal and external research meetings, driving discussions and formulating views on specific managers and strategies

  • Directly contribute to clients' success through applying technical expertise

  • Participate in special projects as needed

  • Assist in development and presentation of research findings to the global investment practice


  • Deliver high quality manager research consulting advice to internal/external clients.

  • Explore and understand the key issues that our clients are facing and help structure appropriate recommendations, communicating clearly why our ideas address their unique business needs. Influence and persuade key client stakeholders (advisory and delegated portfolio managers) around ideas that are beneficial to clients and implementing these ideas in a simple and cost-effective way

  • Influence and persuade clients to evaluate more rigorously strategies/managers that are not adding sufficient value


  • Be a senior resource for the investment practice and key point relationship contact for the broader firm

  • Build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues at all levels and partner with other internal businesses to service clients' complex needs

  • Act as a role model and develop and mentor talent, providing direction, feedback and coaching


  • Be instrumental in identifying, cultivating and expanding new business opportunities and contribute to the financial success of our business

  • Ensure that we have the right number of great ideas, sufficient enough to service the demand, yet equally able to acquire significant capital in each one, facilitating negotiation of better terms and economics for our clients

The Requirements

  • Extensive credit management, research or asset class experience (fund of funds, consulting or portfolio management); global sovereign, global aggregate and/or emerging market debt experience preferred

  • Thorough understanding of the institutional investment industry and investment processes, with relevant experience gained through experience in credit fund selection or directly in credit fund management

  • Sound understanding of credit risk analysis, and general credit / bond pricing methodologies

  • Significant exposure to, and genuine interest in, credit investment

  • Experience of qualitative data collection and assimilation, and its use in opinion forming and the provision of advice

  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation

  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape

  • CFA, ACA or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to travel
