BRECKINRIDGE JOB OPPORTUNITY TITLE: Fixed Income Corporate Research Analyst LOCATION: Boston, MA or San Diego, CA
JOB SUMMARY: Breckinridge Capital Advisors is looking to add a corporate bond analyst to its investment research department. Rigorous, fundamental bottom-up research complemented by our diligent use of innovative technology and proprietary quantitative tools are paramount to our investment research process and is key in helping us identify investment risks and opportunities. The Fixed Income Corporate Research Analyst will play an integral role on our team through assuming primary coverage of investment-grade corporate bond issuers across a variety of Industrials sectors. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with research analysts, traders, portfolio managers, product strategists, and other members of our investment team. This role reports to the Co-Head of Research, who is based in our Boston office. We have a hybrid-work model.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assume primary credit research coverage of various Industrials corporate bond sectors.
• Perform in-depth fundamental credit analysis and present investment recommendations.
• Maintain internal ratings across issuer and sector coverage and updated as required.
• Build and maintain financial models and earnings forecasts for issuers under coverage.
• Integrate issuer and sector relative value analysis into credit and curve recommendations.
• Effectively integrate material ESG factors into issuer and sector analysis.
• Systematically engage with covered issuers on material credit and ESG factors.
• Work to improve fundamental corporate research process and database, maintained in SQL, Python and Excel in collaboration with business analysts and software developers.
• Ability to take on ad hoc, innovative projects related to credit, ESG and/or valuation tools.
• Function as a resource for Research colleagues and broader Breckinridge personnel.
• May be asked to participate in periodic client meetings to discuss sector coverage.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Possess 2-5 years of direct work experience in a fixed income corporate research role.
• A Bachelors’ degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial engineering, computer science, or an analytical discipline is preferred.
• CFA designation and/or a Masters’ degree or progress towards either is preferred.
• Working knowledge or demonstrated interest in SQL, Python and/or R is preferred.
• Proven analytical skills, including the proficient use of Excel, BQL, and Bloomberg.
• Strong quantitative abilities and demonstrated acumen in analyzing complex data sets.
• Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
• Frequent travel will not be required with this role.
• Employee may occasionally be asked to attend industry conferences.
