The Role: Automotive Industry Data Analyst

The Team: S&P Global Mobility established the Enterprise Business Analytics team in July 2022 to maximize the value of the company's considerable data and capabilities. The charter of this team is to democratize access to the data assets throughout the organization. The team will use its considerable experience in the automotive industry to enable the broader organization to enter new customer segments within existing and new clientele.

What's in it for you: Industry Data Analysis is critical to S&P Global Mobility's core value proposition - the ability to deliver relevant data sets and tools to support our clients' operational business decisions. The Enterprise Business Analytics team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing data sets, creating and curating new data assets, and partnering with the broader S&P Mobility team to create data-driven solutions for a wide range of additional business problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Partnering with product, operations, and commercial teams to identify client decision support needs and translate to required data capabilities for challenging business problems
  • Supporting voice of customer collection and proof of concept designs
  • Understanding customer pain points and use cases
  • Collaborating with product managers to define requirements and success measures
  • Exploring new data assets, tools, and techniques to strengthen existing products, enable new product development, and support enhanced scientific predictions
  • Developing data capability requirements and business logic
  • Collaborating with engineering to integrate new data sources
  • Supporting business case development for data project investment
  • Assessing severity of existing gaps and developing options to mitigate/resolve
  • Identifying opportunities to fully harness the power of and maximize the company's return on existing data assets
  • Developing proactive, scalable, and extensible analytical frameworks to enable quality assurance within production processes and post-production
  • Creating new or derived metrics to capture data relationships and deliver solutions that lead to insights and decision support
  • Communicating data-driven insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
What We're Looking For:
  • You possess 7+ years of professional experience as a data analyst or in a similar analytical + technical role. Additional relevant education will be considered in lieu of experience
  • Automotive sales operations experience required. Operations experience in other industries with large transactional data (retail, banking/lending, etc.) may be considered
  • You possess a Bachelor of Science in a quantitative discipline (e.g., data analytics or science, economics, statistics, finance, operations research, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical/mechanical/industrial engineering, etc....)
  • You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are a skilled analyst, adept at not just answering the "what", but, more importantly, the "why"
  • You are comfortable working with large, complex, and ambiguous data sets and are capable of sifting signal from noise
  • You are able to think quickly on your feet and handle uncertainty
  • You are curious and thrive when presented with learning opportunities
  • You have strong knowledge of and experience with analyzing large datasets and using tools such as Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, and PowerBI
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You are capable of executing against multiple projects as part of a team or independently, while managing competing deadlines

The Location: Southfield, MI. All other US locations

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $79,000 to $125,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
