We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Venture and Growth Lending - Commercial Banking.

Principal Responsibilities

HSBC seeks to be the Leading New Economy Bank across South and South-East Asia, with a clear strategy to deepen relationships with fast growth companies and increase coverage of early-stage investors.

To support this strategy, we seek an exceptional individual to help drive our Venture & Growth Lending strategy - focused on executing bespoke financing transactions, including Venture Debt (with option to take equity warrants), as well as committed & uncommitted Growth Lending - to early-stage, generally loss-making companies. This role will also involve coordinating with colleagues around the Group, focused on equity investments (both through HSBC Ventures and AMG), lending teams, as well as Global Payments & Solutions, and Global Markets.
  • Transaction origination through network of Private Capital (VCs, PEs etc.), founders and start-up eco-system partners
  • Leading the process of identifying and assessing lending opportunities in growth stage companies in tech/tech-enabled/disruptive sectors across Singapore and South-East Asia
  • Conducting sector research and target company screening, undertaking due diligence, building detailed financial models and term sheets, structuring & credit, negotiations, and legal documentation
  • Regular tracking and updates of portfolio company performance, and capital deployment
  • Establishing and cultivating relationships with VC-backed companies and external partners (incl. lawyers, accountants, financial advisors etc.) and other relevant institutions for business development
  • Liaise closely with key internal stakeholders, incl. Mid-Market Financial Sponsors, Structured Banking, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Global Banking & Markets, Risk, and corporate coverage teams
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar capacity
  • Experience working within Corporate Finance, M&A, Venture Debt or Growth Lending, Venture Capital or Structured & Leverage Finance
  • Experience of working with founders or early-stage investors would be highly valued
  • High level of interpersonal, writing, technical and financial modelling skills. Ability to work well with diverse teams, and deal with multiple internal & external stakeholders
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to lead and manage multiple priorities, and to work independently
  • Appetite to build something new and innovative, and be part of a new strategic priority for the bank in South & South-East Asia
To be considered for this role, the relevant rights to work in Singapore is required.
