Who we are looking for
We are looking for a Digital Assurance Director, Vice President to provide leadership in executing the strategy for Corporate Audit's coverage of business, operational and application controls, controls within the capital markets, electronic trading, high frequency trading and digital assets space. In this role you will utilize in-depth subject matter expertise to ensure that the organization meets audit standards, applicable regulations, and addresses emerging issues and risks.

You will provide leadership in audit execution over a number of simultaneous assurance engagements utilizing a risk-based audit approach. This role will include responsibilities for continuous monitoring over product development by the new division and will require the candidate to successfully develop a depth of knowledge and expertise in trading topics, risks and control best practices.

In this role you will be part of Corporate Audit's Digital Assurance team, which is responsible for engagements that focus on State Street Digital business, a new division established in 2021.
You will report directly to the Managing Director for State Street Digital Assurance, and you can be based out of Boston, Massachusetts or Jersey City, New Jersey.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for
As Digital Assurance Director, Vice President you will
  • Serve as a trusted partner and subject matter advisor to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Proactively engage with State Street Digital management.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in evaluating developing products.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership over technology, business and operational risks during audit engagements and annual risk focused audit plan development for the assigned business line(s).
  • Drive consistent risk assessment and audit coverage approach of business, operational and IT controls across Business Units including topics such as trading and digital assets.
  • Lead execution of a risk-focused continuous monitoring and audit plan activities, review and approve audit work products to ensure thorough effective coverage and timely escalation of issues and conclusions.
  • Draft, review, finalize and communicate audit deliverables, including audit findings, memos and audit reports to senior and executive management.
  • Develop and maintain influential relationships with senior and executive management through continuous monitoring activities, regular client relationship meetings, participation in working groups and committees of significant business and technology initiatives, and ad-hoc controls advisory activities.
  • Influence effective and sustainable improvements to processes and controls through insights gained based on risk and control expertise.
  • Champion continuous improvement in the department.
  • Provide insight on the evolving regulatory environment.
  • Stay abreast of industry and technical matters and efficiently and effectively apply applicable new developments in audit projects.
  • Participate as a non-voting member of various steering committees, management working groups, promoting balanced discussions and encouraging challenge and debate.
  • Manage, coach and develop staff, including participating in the talent management, staff evaluation, and new hire processes

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Public Accounting, IT Audit, Internal Audit, Consulting, or Business Process Engineering preferred, ideally in the Financial Services industry.
  • Bachelor degree, preferable in information systems, computer science, accounting or related field; Advanced degree in information technology, cyber security or systems engineering a plus.
  • One or more industry recognized certification (i.e., CPA, CIA, CAMS, CISA, CISSP, CISM, and Cloud+) and the willingness to continue to learn and grow.
  • Proficient or knowledgeable in evaluating and testing internal controls and in applying a risk-based audit approach.
  • Experience with auditing trading applications and/ or digital assets preferred.
  • Experience with public cloud applications (Azure, AWS), database tools and technology preferred.
  • Strong expertise or experience auditing certain technology-related areas such as:
    • Trading products and operations (High frequency trading (HFT), FX, Swaps, Currency, Non-deliverable forwards, Money Markets trading etc.)
    • Securities market regulations (MiFId)
    • NIST Standards implementation assessments
    • Application Controls
    • Operational Controls
    • IT General Controls
    • Identity and Access Management
    • Technical Resiliency and Business Continuity Management
    • Cyber Security
    • Public Cloud
    • Vulnerability Scanning and Penetration Testing


Additional requirements
While majority of the time you will work from your primary location, some domestic and international travel may be required to a variety of locations where State Street operates.

Salary Range:
$130,000 - $212,500 Annual
