Job Summary
Define key responsibilities to reflect the duties and responsibilities of this role.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Application Architect to be part of Operation Risk domain. Resource will be working closely with Head of Engineering, Head of System & Analytics of Operational Risk (OR) & MI teams to streamline, simplify the architecture for Operational Risk, define Technology Strategy & Roadmap for the domain. Delivering value to our customers is at the core of what our teams do - this role will work closely with Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure alignment of application architecture to broader enterprise architecture patterns and strategies. This resource will also work on, to discovering and improving the Data Management related capabilities in OR.
This role will lead the Change & Transformation in Operational Risk Technology, work with multiple software teams to help them become high-performing and continuously innovate and optimise the application design, architecture and capacity.
Responsibilities
Strategy
Experience and expertise of the GRC Domain, Operational Risk Management & Technology is must. Overall experience of 12+ years in Information Technology and 10+ years of experience in financial sector is preferred. Lead and assist in development of projects that will establish quality objectives. Work with Solution Architects, Project Team, and Vendors to ensure that Patterns and Best Practices are being considered and applied appropriately. Guide teams through all phases of cycle development, including analysis, project design and development, testing and final delivery.
Business
  • Engage proactively with business stakeholders to ensure that Technology / Architecture is involved at the onset of any solution that requires Technology, through active participation in business strategy workshops, QPRs and/or Refinement Forums. Contribute to investment planning/prioritisation with the businesses and TTO. Improve cost efficiency - drive efficiency by identifying opportunities to rationalise to a fewer best of breed platforms which provides strategic business capability and aggressively decommission redundant applications. Driving and enable cloud adoption and modernisation of technology landscape, where applicable, across the assigned applications and Group Functions whilst balancing regulatory requirements like cloud approvals, data sovereignty and security.
  • As a senior technology manager in the GRC team, lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners. Passion for and ability to work with software development teams releasing production-ready software daily. Experience on GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance and Operational Risk domain knowledge. Hands on experience on Oracle DB , PL/SQL is must. Oracle Certification is added advantage. Be a mentor or coach to other members of the team, as appropriate.
Risk Management
  • Work closely with Project Team to ensure projects are implemented in line with approved Architecture and Target Architecture.
  • Work with project team closely to address day to day architecture and engineering challenges
Governance
  • Responsible to work with project Team to ensure submissions to Architecture Review Forum (ARF) and Functions Technology Council (FTC) meet the required level of due diligence and quality from an architecture perspective.
  • Responsible to ensure that Application/Project level architecture processes and any related deliverables are completed/met.

Training, licenses, memberships and certifications
  • Drive continuous improvement programs including introduction of tools, technology and best practices implementation and adherence. Ensure Architecture / Technology standards and processes are adhered to for the assigned applications and application level technical debt is tracked and monitored. Facilitate cloud governance & approvals for the assigned applications, constantly seek opportunities for process optimisation and enhancements.
Our Ideal candidate:
  • 12+ Years' of Experience in the relevant IT domain
  • Experience and expertise in M7, its data model and associated modules.
  • Experience in designing solutions using M7.
  • Experience is architecting and designing complex distributed systems
  • Excellent knowledge of various Architecture patterns and trade-offs between them
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture and governance process.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Programming languages (Java/Python/SQL etc)
  • Container Technologies (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Data and Big Data Technologies
