Job Summary:
Cash Trading is an integral part of the HKEX's Operations Division and is responsible for managing the business and operations of the trading of securities market products. We are looking for a high caliber and motivated individual to join our Trading Development Team with responsibility spanning across the spearheading and implementation of strategic initiatives and microstructure enhancements for the Hong Kong securities market and Stock Connect.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities:
  • Research, identify and develop new and enhancement opportunities to trading of cash equities, ETPs, structured product; apply qualitative, quantitative analysis and back testing to support the proposals and evaluate opportunities
  • Collaborate with clients, sales and product development team to identify key areas of opportunities for further development of stock connect and cash market. Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate and suggest modifications to trading features and functionalities and then see through the implementation by reflecting these enhancements in market wide technical and regulatory changes
  • Understand, define and communication prioritization of business needs and work with IT teams to define the business requirement and functional requirement of the changes to trading platform, with a mind towards driving business value, enhance flow and balancing tradeoffs.
  • Build and maintain an expert level of knowledge in the cash market products and trading arrangements. Develop, review and maintain SEHK rulebooks, internal policies and procedures as well as relevant agreements with partnering exchanges
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with exchange participants, industry groups, to improve and support trading development, including performing soft consultations, assessing market impact, commercial effectiveness and technical readiness of proposed changes. Collaborate with internal teams to actively manage business risk, issues & impediments expressed by market participants
  • Maintain strong working relationship with regulators, partnering exchanges and clearing houses to support and coordinate matters that require policy/ regulatory endorsement and approval. Manage and mitigate regulatory risk.
  • Supervise junior teammate on day-to-day support on business analysis and trading development
Requirements:
  • University Degree in a reputable institution, preferably in Finance/ Economics/ Business Administration / Computer Science or related disciplines
  • 8+ years experience in well-established financial institutions, management consulting firms or multinational corporations, of which at least 3 years at management/ supervisory level
  • Solid experience in business analysis and / or strategic / corporate development would be essential. Good understanding of cash market products and different trading strategies would be highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the Hong Kong securities market and Stock Connect trading will also be preferred.
  • Creative, tactical and strategic thinking to drive towards solving business challenges and developing emerging opportunities
  • E xcellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good command of spoken English, Chinese and Putonghua. Proficiency in business writing in English and Chinese
