Team Description, Role, and Function on team:

Intraday Credit Risk (ICR) is a group within the Credit Risk division responsible for the oversight and management of the credit facilities, and same day extensions of credit, supporting various processing activities for BNY Mellon's clients. The members of the global Exceptional Credit Approval team, within ICR, utilize various control systems to make real-time intraday credit decisions to support securities and cash processing. ICR members additionally contribute to analyzing and preparing reports, contribute to the development of organization-wide projects and programs to improve credit risk management, and contribute to the implementation of system and process enhancements to comply with regulatory requirements .

The position requires strong analytical skills, decision making capabilities, knowledge of securities and cash systems, as well as good communication skills.

Responsibilities - External
  • Contributes to risk management efforts for Intraday Credit Risk, towards the completion of numerous credit processing and assessment activities, including credit analysis, underwriting, borrower re-rating/approval and transaction review and approval for intraday credit. Develops and delivers documentation and reporting in a timely manner.
  • Approves and oversees standard credit processing and assessment activities.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with credit systems, such as the credit borrower rating system and credit approval systems (GFC, CFC, AIMs, Nexen).
  • Involved in analysing and preparing ad hoc and standard reporting for the credit risk portfolios.
  • Helps to improve each region's adherence to the risk management strategy of the assigned credit risk discipline or contributes to the development of strategies to bring the regions into compliance with standard regional and global regulatory and policy requirements; helps to identify existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline.
  • Contributes to the development of organization-wide projects and programs and Intraday Credit Risk identification and mitigation projects to improve risk management for ICR.
  • Assists with the completion of industry, country and/or counter party credit quality analyses for ICR
  • Contributes to the implementation of new, approved Intraday Credit Risk management solutions that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • No direct reports. Provides guidance to more junior team members, as needed. Contributes to the achievement of Intraday Credit Risk team objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of total work experience preferred. Prior experience/background in credit risk preferred. Other such financial/banking backgrounds will be considered:
    • Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management. Ability to assist with the management of diverse lending, operating products, attendant risk, foreclosure, bankruptcy and/or OREO assets.
    • Operational Credit Risk: Experience as an underwriter and assisting with the management of rapid-turnaround, intraday funds transfers and approvals.
    • Credit Administration: Experience as a banker, underwriter and/or familiarity with credit administration systems typically used by financial institutions preferred. Significant experience conducting complex real estate appraisals.
