Head of Market Outreach (Americas), Senior Director

The Role:
The Head of Market Outreach will oversee the engagement with market participants (primarily buy-side fixed-income investors) within North America and LATAM (the 'Americas'). The role requires the management of the Regional Market Outreach team (currently eight members) to ensure the efficient and effective execution of outreach across the Americas, as well as maintaining day-to-day responsibility for engaging with influential investors.

The candidate will be joining a diverse, professional, and well-regarded team within S&P Global Ratings. The Market Outreach team has a variety of background experience in capital markets, including top asset managers and investment banks, creating a rich base of resources and knowledge.

You will be expected to lead the team with a high degree of independence but with ongoing support and direction from the Global Head of Market Outreach. The role will have an Associated Compliance status.

The Impact:
As the Head of Market Outreach, you will be accountable for the development, prioritization, and execution of an outreach strategy for investor contacts throughout the Americas. This strategy will both ensure that S&P Global Ratings continues to be viewed by market participants as the pre-eminent CRA for timely Research and Ratings, as well as generating insights back from the market.

Investor insights have the potential to inform our commercial strategy, shape our analytical approach and advise S&P Global Ratings senior management on company-wide initiatives. As the users of our credit ratings, understanding and serving buy-side investors is at the heart of our client-first mentality. Therefore, the impact of our engagement with investors is significant.

As the leader of this important team, you will be responsible for the management of a diverse group of professionals including recruitment, performance review, career development, etc.

Externally, the candidate will maintain exposure to influential investors and financial market stakeholders on a regular basis. This could be through hosting events, one-to-one meetings or speaking at conferences, etc. By establishing credibility in the market, both for the company and themselves, then it is expected that the candidate will be able to represent S&P Global in high-profile events and conferences.

As well as continuing to develop and maintain our relationships with traditional fixed-income investors, we are focusing on several interesting new areas for coverage. These include Sustainability, Private Markets, and Decentralized Finance ('DeFi') - an interest of experience in any or all of these would be an advantage.

What We're Looking For:
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Significant experience (10 years plus) in developing and managing client relationships either in a commercial or analytical environment.
  • A track record of focused market engagement to ensure effective communication of key messages as well as the capability to generate actionable insights from the market which inform and help shape the business
  • Experience of managing, and developing, a team effectively to drive results
  • Capability to work as part of the Market Outreach Senior Management team on the future strategy of the group, suggesting opportunities or highlighting insights that may be valuable from an analytical or commercial perspective
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively and effectively with other senior managers in other divisions
  • Experience in undertaking strategic research projects on an ad hoc basis around the global investment and ratings universe
  • Bachelor's degree, as a minimum, in either finance, business, or similar.
  • An interest, or background, in Sustainability/ESG, would be an advantage.
Grade Level: Grade 14 (for internal purposes)

Location: New York , NY
This role is limited to persons with the indefinite right to work in the United States.

Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,100 to $258,000. The final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
