Research Associate

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE Hunter Capital Management, an equal opportunity employer, is looking to hire a Research Associate to join our growing team. Our strategy emphasizes uncovering high quality companies trading at discounted valuations. We are focused on providing strong returns for our clients by investing in excellent long term businesses with asymmetric risk reward ratios. These companies typically have durable competitive advantages, sound balance sheets, solid growth and return potential, as well as positive free cash flow.

The ideal candidate is highly curious about all areas of the market and willing to work as a “jack of all trades” covering multiple sectors of the US equity market and assisting with marketing and operations. This person should be capable of developing an investment thesis on individual companies, conducting rigorous financial analysis and valuation work, and communicating and working well with all members of our investment, marketing and operations team. They should be self-motivated, independent thinkers, curious about ESG issues and possess an interest in all aspects of the investment business.      

RESPONSIBILITIES  

The Research Associate will be responsible for the following:

• Financial modeling and analysis, valuation work, and ESG analysis on portfolio holdings and new ideas Researching multiple industries and companies to aid in depth of analysis Maintain comp sheets and other research materials used by analysts and PMs Assist with marketing materials, database updates, ADV amendments, and brochures Assist with updates of firm’s client RIA lists and completion of DDQ and RFIs Create mail-merges, assist with client outreach and assist with CRM systems Interacting with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of HCM Assist with trading and other firm operations

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-4 years of financial industry experience Strong academic record / Work achievement Econ or finance major, CFA or MBA preferred, but not required

PERSONAL

• Curious and independent thinker; adept at research. Persistent and detail oriented Confident demeanor: ability to interact with industry professionals and clients with ease Strong interest in, and working knowledge of, markets, investments, and trading Analytical; highly numerate and very proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and FactSet

Willing to work at least 4 days a week out of Lombard, IL Office
