The Data Strategy & Solutions team is accelerating the future of investment research for BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group (PMG), which manages trillions of dollars of customer assets. Our team builds innovative software solutions that empower PMG investment teams to improve their portfolio decision-making with alternative data.
We are looking for a talented, ambitious Senior Software Engineer to grow and expand our Platform Engineering function. You will become an immediately valuable contributor responsible for aspects of the design, development, reliability, and scalability of our platform. The Platform Engineering function is based in the Atlanta Innovation Hub (iHub), one of three BlackRock iHubs worldwide. Our hybrid work model
BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. Beginning in September, all employees will shift to at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. We remain focused on increasing the impactful moments that arise when we work together in person - aligned with our commitment to performance and innovation. Responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and optimize platform applications
- Guide technical and design decisions based on experience
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
- Communicate with stakeholders and help developers with our platform
- Thought leadership on developer experience and process optimizations
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends
- Motivated - You want to work with the best so that you can learn the most
- Technical - You love technology, you love to discuss it, build it, use it, hack it and modernize it
- Team Builder - You've seen the value in teamwork
- Proactive - You have examples of following your gut to success
- At least 5 years of professional experience in full stack Software Engineering
- Technical know-how: Experience with designing and building lots of things, particularly data-centric applications
- Proficiency with Python
- Experience with frontend technologies like React
- Nice to have: Experience with cloud technologies (Google Cloud Platform, etc.)
- Strong analytics and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to new technologies
- B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
