QIS Investment Specialist (Leading Global Bank)

We are working with a leading global bank firm that is looking to hire a QIS Product Specialist/Investment Specialist with a strong understanding of cross-asset quantitative strategies (buy-side or sell-side) to work on a well-respected, growing team of technical investment specialists that sit between the QIS Structuring Team and the Salespeople. The role can be based in Paris or London, with Paris being the ideal preference.

The objectives of the Investment Specialist is to play a key role in helping drive business origination (working alongside the salespeople to bring in new business through being the technical product specialist that can articulate and explain the products) & Product Animation (writing market-focused commentary/tactical content with bullet points & charts about different investment strategies to drive client engagement), as well helping potential clients with some trade simulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of technical and quant awareness (although does not have be a quant), while knowing what QIS Strategies the clients (mostly institutional investors - Asset Managers, Pension Funds, HFs) will gain the most value from. A strong understanding of various types of quantitative/systematic strategies is also important.

This is especially an exciting role for anyone quite technical/quantitative that enjoys client engagement/communication, while also being in a technical role. The bank has one of the most well-respected product ranges in the entire industry, while also having a very complete suite of clients and an exceptional distribution platform.

The ideal candidate for this role would come from a buy-side product specialist background (preferably at a quant/systematic shop) or from a sell-side QIS Sales/Investment Specialist (or similar) background. Someone that has been previously doing QIS Sales could also be considered, although the person would need to have a strong quantitative background/understanding.

The QIS team comprises 35+ people, including sales, investment specialists, and the actual QIS developers that are developing the strategies. Within this specific investment specialist team there are 5 other team members and with this new hire, the team will be expanding to 6 people. The strategies are generally provided through indices, and sold to retail and institutional clients, in different formats eg. swaps, exchange-traded instruments and funds. This role would either sit on the Paris or London team, with a strong preference for Paris.

Responsibilities:
  • Growing the institutional client franchise in Europe & UK
  • Working alongside the sales team in selling the platform, originating deals, and product animation/writing tactical market content
  • Actively engaging with potential business leads (support for back & forth simulations)
  • Supporting the Product Developers & actively liaising with clients (internal & external)

Requirements:
  • 5-10 years' experience in QIS (VP, Senior VP or Director level)
  • Fluent French speaker is a strong preference, although not required
  • Extensive client-facing experience is a key requirement
  • Good understanding of quantitative/systematic/QIS Strategies (although this person does not need to be a quant)
  • Advanced capabilities in Excel & trade simulation
  • Great all-round communicator, able to embed themselves in a team-based culture, demonstrate collaborative behaviors and drive decision-making and outcomes.
  • Energetic, collaborative, and forward-thinking with the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Skilled problem solver, who can utilize outstanding analytic and decision-making skills
