Description

The Senior Technical Accountant will play a critical role to perform key accounting research activities, formulates and prepares position papers, provides training and presents to others on technical accounting activities. This role will review routine and non-routine company transactions to identify the relevant accounting considerations for documentation and analysis.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Preparation of accounting analysis memorandums which document the procedures performed and results obtained as a result of accounting research under U.S. GAAP
  • Provides associated consulting services to operating units as required
  • Leads accounting-analysis of projects associated with potential acquisitions, investments and other proposed transactions that require review by Executive Leadership and or Board of Directors
  • Oversee the Accounting Research Database as maintained on an internal SharePoint site
  • Manage external audit activities including technical accounting work performed
  • Keeps abreast of all current accounting standards initiatives, keeps the organization informed of such activities as necessary, and drafts comments on behalf of the company to regulatory bodies
  • Prepare educational materials to summarize new accounting guidance and provide a framework for consistent application across the organization with respect to any new accounting standards
  • Establishes and monitors corporate accounting policies and their compliance with relevant authoritative accounting guidance
  • Responsible for ensuring policies are accurate, current and documented in a centrally located repository
  • Oversee activities and projects as well as for various Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and regulatory filing requirements
  • Develop a comprehensive accounting policy manual
  • Partners/collaborates with key stakeholders to develop solutions for better financial and strategic outcomes that align with the company's overall strategic plan
  • Review and prepare financial statement footnote and MD&A support for the quarterly SEC filings
  • Assist with the monthly accounting close and financial statement trend review processes

Skills & Software Requirements:
  • Must be an accomplished business writer with experience crafting Executive Summaries and Memo-writing
  • Proficiency in accounting research required and Technical Policy
  • Software to include; SharePoint, Webfilings and Microsoft Office
  • Workday is a plus
  • Financial Services experience, CPA, and knowledge of IFRS is a plus
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
