S&P Global delivers essential intelligence that powers decision making. We provide the world's leading organizations with the right data, connected technologies and expertise they need to move ahead. As part of our team, you'll help solve complex challenges that equip businesses, governments and individuals with the knowledge to adapt to a changing economic landscape.

S&P Global Commodity Insights enables organizations to create long-term, sustainable value with data and insights for a complete view on the global energy and commodities markets.

The Purpose
The Senior Communications Specialist will help tell a consistent story --- both to the media and to employees -- about the division's products, research, vision, goals, wins and people --- what we stand for and what we accomplish. This position will help build the culture and success of the S&P Global's Commodity Insights team to best serve our clients and the markets overall by contributing to the enterprise's employee engagement efforts, ongoing integration plan, productivity and retention.

Your Day to Day
  • Work with colleagues down the hall and across the globe; this is a global team with colleagues based across NY to Singapore who you will assist and collaborate with on various communications tasks and projects.
  • Story telling! Work with the teams to create a compelling story about various projects and initiatives.
  • You will be one of the key writers on our team; you will write stories for our intranet and weekly newsletter that catch employees' attention and help them learn new things about the division. We are looking for someone who can help create content using words, images and tools.
  • Video production! Sometimes the best way to tell a story is through video. Work with our in-house Studios team to tell a story visually.
  • Speaking of visuals, we hope you like to make things look good! Use basic graphic design tools and photos to put a visual polish on those stories you write or social media content you create.
  • Pitch to the press! You will be surrounded by a seasoned team of communications professionals that have extensive experience dealing with the press. This team will lean on you to help craft and pitch content to the press to Commodity Insights' intellectual research, products, data and people.
  • Help with the daily management of media inquiries. You will be expected to coordinate and respond according to reporter deadlines and uphold best practices when communicating with the press.
  • Bring new ideas and creative tools to the table
  • Work with our social media team to create content for our accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Attend media events, press conferences, webinars or media briefings with more-experienced colleagues to learn how to further establish and promote the brand.
  • Use your technical skills to post content in our CMS, support town halls through management of Zoom and Teams meetings, and work with colleagues to develop efficient workflows
Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, with a focus in communications, or journalism preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant communications experience, preferably with an agency.
  • Must have strong verbal and writing/grammatical skills as well as ability to present information and ideas logically and clearly; keen eye for detail also required.
  • You are proactive, resourceful and team oriented.
  • You can communicate with senior stakeholders in a respectful and thoughtful manner, and you don't shy away from challenges.
  • Ability to work within a team across multiple time zones and on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to follow directions, escalate challenges, and produce a finished project that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Enthusiasm to learn more is a must!
